Camp Overview

The National Youth Camp for Peace (NYCP) is an annual initiative by Women in Alternative Action (WAA) Cameroon. The NYCP is a valuable opportunity for young people to learn about peacebuilding, develop their leadership skills, and make a difference in their communities.

The camp will host 80 youths (both young women and men) aged 16-35 from all ten regions of Cameroon. Participants will engage in voter registration activities, gaining practical experience with the electoral process as part of their conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts. The camp will be interactive and engaging, featuring:

  • Working sessions on empowering youth as key drivers of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

  • Cultural exchange activities.

  • Role-play exercises to practice conflict resolution skills.

By the end of the camp, participants will receive awards and certificates. All accommodations, meals, and conference materials will be provided.

Camp Objectives

The main objective of this year's camp is to empower youth as key drivers of conflict prevention and peacebuilding in their communities. Specifically, the camp aims to:

  • Equip youth with knowledge, skills, and resources for effective conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

  • Enhance participants' abilities to analyze conflict dynamics, design solutions, and lead community initiatives.

  • Create platforms for youth to engage in dialogues, decision-making, and collaborative actions with policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders.

  • Encourage youth participation in electoral processes, including voter registration, civic education, and engagement with candidates on conflict prevention.

  • Foster meaningful dialogues among youth from diverse backgrounds to bridge generational divides and develop collaborative approaches to sustainable peace.
